(SEATTLE) – Investigators have determined that the crew of a state ferry could have avoided a Sept. 13 collision that sank a sailboat, The Seattle Times reported. The second mate aboard the ferry Hyak turned to starboard when the captain told her to turn to port, resulting in the ferry striking the 25-foot Tasya. The captain of the sailboat had to be rescued from his sinking vessel.
