Mobile enjoys moment in the sun as New Orleans vessels divert

(MOBILE, Ala.) — The Press-Register of Mobile pointed out in an editorial that the Port of Mobile unexpected found itself in the spotlight after a large oil spill closed the Port of New Orleans for several days. New port cranes went into operation earlier than expected to accommodate container traffic that diverted to the Alabama facility. Mobile also accommodated the cruiseship fantasy on two occasions during the spill response.
